It’s conference tournament time again for Hardin-Central in varsity basketball.
Coming off a 70-37 Feb. 2 nonconference road loss to Wellington-Napoleon, the Hardin-Central boys opened the annual Carroll-Livingston Activities Association Tournament by routing Breckenridge 63-29 Feb. 4 at Tina-Avalon, the host for the boys and girls tournaments. Junior Kameron Pugh paced Hardin-Central with 25 points, including 16 first-half points. Sophomore Caleb Gant also reached double figures for Hardin-Central with 12 points.
With the victory, the seventh-seeded boys advanced to play second-seeded Higbee Tuesday. They lost 49-35, putting them in the consolation bracket semifinals, slated for Wednesday night.
The Hardin-Central girls opened the tournament Tuesday with a 43-33 loss to Tina-Avalon. As of this writing, they were slated for consolation-bracket semifinal play Wednesday night.
