Pyle preps to ball play at UCM

RICHMOND – Tyler Pyle’s high school baseball ended abruptly. But his collegiate baseball career is only beginning. On April 9, the Missouri State High School Activities Association announced the cancellation of its state championships, in effect, cancelling all spring sports seasons due to COVID-19 restriction. It would have been the final season at Richmond for Pyle, a senior. During an April 3 phone interview, Pyle discussed the dimming possibility of getting to play one more season at Richmond. He, younger brother Joshua and father Troy have “looked forward” to the Pyle brothers playing together as Spartans, Pyle said. Getting stripped of that opportunity “just sucks,” he said. Richmond varsity baseball coach Brandon Quick appreciated his time working with Pyle. “Something that was consistent with him throughout the three years that I had him was his work ethic,” Quick said April 10 by phone. “He worked on the game every day.
