IN PICTURES: A MATINEE THRILLER

Orrick is on a roll in varsity basketball entering the holiday break. The Bearcats have won three straight, putting them at 5-3 before Christmas. After downing Lexington 52-41 Dec. 15 at Orrick and edging Lawson 52-49 Monday night at Lawson, they pulled out a seesaw thriller Tuesday afternoon with visiting Polo. Jonathon Harris, a junior guard, sank one of two last-second free throws to help Orrick claim the 50-49 non-conference victory. Harris was among three Bearcats in double figures. Senior guard Zander Stevinson led the way with 19 points, followed by junior Jaxon Miller with 13 points and Harris with 10. Sophomore Maverick Gentry led Polo with 21 points and was the sole Panther in double figures. The matinee thriller followed Orrick’s 54-7 loss to Polo in the varsity girls game.
