NHC’s bid for perfect season ends with loss to W-N

A fourth-quarter comeback and an unprecedented 11th win were within reach when Norborne Hardin-Central (NHC) faced Wellington-Napoleon Nov. 14 in District 4 action. Both narrowly slipped away. Trailing 38-22, NHC pulled within eight, courtesy of a 50-yard TD run by Brody Fifer and two-point conversion run by Zach Deitch with 6 minutes, 39 seconds left in the final quarter of the livestreamed 8-man football showdown at Hardin-Central. The Tigers, however, answered on their next possession, as Carter Bolten ran in a touchdown from about 11 yards out with 3:09 remaining – the final points of NHC’s 44-30 seasonending defeat. “I thought our boys did a fantastic job of coming out of halftime – we were down by quite a bit – and battling back late,” NHC coach Andrew Watson said Monday by phone.
