Motivated Bowman leads Spartans onto the links
RICHMOND – Qualifying for the 2020 Class 1 state girls golf tournament motivates Spartans senior Tori Bowman for 2021.
“I’m really looking forward to just working on my game, getting better every day as much as I can and, hopefully, getting my … scores better,” Bowman said Aug. 9 at Shirkey Golf Course. “And just having fun. That’s like my biggest thing … not to be stressful or anything.”
A team leader, Bowman looks forward to assisting senior Lauren Mansfield, a newcomer to golf. The keys are “just making sure (Mansfield) has fun and just learning about the game so she can have a good time whenever she plays,” Bowman said.
Richmond coach Murray Dennis looks for Bowman to lead in words and deeds.
“That’s kind of the responsibility as a senior,” Dennis said. “Playing four years, you kind of stepped into that role.”
Bowman placed 69th at state and is one of Richmond’s two returning qualifiers. The other, junior Kennedy Wrisinger, finished in a three-way tie for 38th.
