Motivated Aggies pound out 44-point homecoming win
NORBORNE – Coach Andrew Watson found a way to motivate his Aggies during halftime of Norborne Hardin-Central’s Oct. 1 meeting with Northland Christian.
With the Aggies leading the varsity 8-man football clash 48-36, Watson and his staff “just challenged them to do their job and trust their teammates and let the rest take care of itself,” he said. The Aggies responded by outscoring the Trailblazers 38-12 the second half for an 86-48 homecoming victory.
The coaches were not the only ones who talked, Kelton Gordon said. A couple of players “really talked sense into the team and got us to look … up and realize that this means more to us, it means more to our seniors and we … (wanted) to dedicate that game to them,” Gordon said.
Sparked by the halftime talks, the Aggies “all had more intensity” the second half, Gordon said.
“There’s really no secret to what we did,” he said.
