Junior tourney ‘rough’ for Comstock, Evans, ‘fun’ for Dooleys

RICHMOND – Dylan Comstock could sum up his performance in the June 11 Kansas City Junior Tour tournament at Shirkey Golf Course in Richmond in two words. “Extremely rough,” Comstock said. What made the round rough for Comstock, a soon-to-be senior at Orrick, was losing four golf balls in a row, he said. Lawson’s Jack Evans, who played in a twosome with Comstock, found the 18- hole, par-71 round rough-going, too. “It was not an enjoyable day,” Evans said. Comstock weathered the rough spots of his round well enough to finish in a three-way tie with Kansas City’s Drew Hennessey and Platte City’s Quinn Earwood for ninth in the boys 16+ division. After shooting a 46 on the front nine, Comstock shot a 35 on the back nine, capped by a birdie on the 18th hole, to finish with an 86 (+15). Comstock, Earwood and Hennessey tied with Fitz Volini of Mission Hills, Kansas, for 16th on the overall boys leaderboard.
