Homecoming king helps clear path for rushers as Richmond romps
For senior John Weber, something sweetened his honor of being named Richmond’s 2024 homecoming king: Richmond’s 56-7 Week 6 thumping of visiting Carrollton in varsity 11-man football.
Weber helped sweeten the honor as one of Richmond’s offensive and defensive linemen. Unofficially, the Spartans tallied 407 rushing yards with Weber and Co. blocking for their running backs.
Weber never doubted Richmond’s offensive line would control the line of scrimmage, he said.
“We (have) got (a) pretty good group of O-linemen,” Weber commented. “(There are a) couple of young guys, but when we need it big, they step up.”
One lineman who stepped up was senior Travis Cardell, Weber suggested.

Dryden Hendrix, who utilized the blocks by Weber and others as a running back. Unofficially, the sophomore paced the Spartans with 203 yards and four touchdowns on 11 carries.
