H-C boys relay team wins at Lexington

LEXINGTON – On April 11, Hardin-Central’s boys 400-meter relay team turned in a winning time. It was almost a record-setting time, too. Competing at the Bill Hamann Invitational, the foursome of Kaden McGinnis, Kalel Bowman, Denver Douglas and Brody Fifer ran the race at Lexington High School in 46.04 seconds – .93 ahead of second-place Holden. The time would’ve been a school record, had the foursome not broken the record two days earlier, according to Bulldogs coach Andrew Watson. The team’s winning time of 45.63 at the Delbert Best Invitational in Odessa broke the old record, 46.14, set in 2015, Watson stated Sunday via email. The boys’ work ethic was key to their victory at Lexington, Watson stated. “Our relay boys have worked their tails off this year,” he wrote. “Every day, they come to work to really try and be the best they can at their craft this year.
