Freece seeks return to state in cross country
HARDIN – Mason Freece knows what would constitute a mic drop for his final cross country season: qualifying for the Class 1 state meet for the third time.
Freece placed 93rd in 2019 and 92nd in 2020. Qualifying takes a “lot of hard work,” Freece said Aug. 10.
“Can’t take any days off,” he said.
Coach Kari Winfrey is confident Freece will achieve his goal.
“He will be extremely disappointed if he doesn’t,” Winfrey said. “So I know he will definitely work hard to be there.”
Freese’s track record fuels Winfrey’s confidence.
“He knows what it takes (to qualify) and he’s very determined and a good leader, and he will definitely do everything he can to make sure he makes
