COVID-19 abruptly ends NHC’s season
HARDIN – COVID-19 has ended Norborne Hardin-Central’s varsity 8-man football season.
NHC coach and Richmond High School alumnus Kirk Thacker stated Nov. 5 in a text message that the Aggies had to forfeit their Nov. 6 District 2 Tournament meeting with North Shelby at Shelbyville. The loss followed NHC’s win by forfeit over Schuyler County to open the singleelimination tournament.
“We’ve had several cases of COVID (at Hardin-Central),” Thacker said Nov. 6 by phone. “We had a young lady in the high school that contracted it. We also have some administration that has it. … Yesterday afternoon, we got a report that a junior high student had contracted (it), was positive. … We also have had a few other students that are in quarantine.”
Because of the number of cases in the school district, the district opted to go to all-virtual instruction, effective Nov. 6, “and that all … team activities were to cease immediately,” Thacker said.
