HOLDEN – Richmond first-year high schooler Jacob Lieberknecht almost won his first game as a full-time varsity quarterback. And in doing so, he seemed to have won the respect of Holden coach David Diener. With Richmond trailing 17-13 in the fourth quarter of the Oct. 6 Missouri River Valley Conference (MRVC)-East Division 11-man football clash, Lieberknecht led the Spartans into Holden territory before they lost the ball on downs. Taking over on their own 38-yard line, the Eagles held on for a four-point win by grinding out the final 5 minutes, 59 seconds. Lieberknecht had platooned reps with junior Jacob Johnson in several ballgames before taking all of them against Holden.
