LAWSON – Orrick has completed a phase of offseason boys basketball training. On Monday, the Bearcats finished their summer-league schedule at Lawson with back-to-back losses to Penney of Hamilton’s and Lawson’s varsity squads. They were among roughly 40 teams participating in the four-week league, which finished play Wednesday, a league schedule states. Other participating area teams listed were the Excelsior Springs’ varsity and junior varsity programs, Hardin-Central, and Richmond’s varsity and junior varsity squads. “(We did) a lot of good things and (there are) a lot of good things we (have) got to work on, which is kind of what we were expecting,” varsity coach Matt Brownsberger said.
