‘Best bath I’ve ever taken’
HARDIN – Norborne Hardin-Central’s varsity 8-man football team carried on a gridiron tradition Sept. 17.
Following NHC’s 56-46 win over Santa Fe at Alma, the Aggies gave Andrew Watson a water-cooler shower to commemorate his first head coaching victory, Watson said Monday in the Hardin-Central schoolhouse.
As Wikipedia states, drenching a coach with water, Gatorade or other hydration fluid to commemorate a special win began almost 40 years ago in the NFL with Gatorade. Watson was pleased to be part of the tradition, particularly considering the circumstances.
“I’d been sweating a lot. … It was (an) intense game – a lot of yelling and running around and a lot of adrenaline – so (it) actually felt pretty good,” he said. “Probably (the) best bath I’ve ever taken.”
Giving Watson his first water-cooler shower “was amazing,” Brayden Schick said.
“Definitely something we want to do more of throughout the season,” Schick, a Hardin-Central senior, said. “So we’ll be looking forward to it…
