ORRICK – The Bearcats’ 90-58 Sept. 17 homecoming win over Braymer/ Breckenridge exposed some issues they must address, Orrick varsity 8-man football coach Kirk Thacker and senior Blake Buchanan agreed. “Braymer played a hell of a game. … They had a great game plan,” Thacker, a Richmond High School alumnus, said. “They gave us fits. They gave us everything (they had) and they were motivated. And that is a big thing. And as the game went on … they were motivated and … we fell apart. And luckily, we were able to hang on. But … basically, we got exposed for being pretenders right now and we’ve got to get back on track.” Thacker and Buchanan agreed Orrick’s defensive trouble spots got exposed. “(We) definitely let our foot off the gas on defense almost every single drive, so we just kept shooting ourselves in the foot, which did not help, which made (our) offense pretty pointless – no matter what the stats were,” Buchanan said.
