Bearcats hit links on new home course

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Orrick’s golf program has a new home. After a lengthy relationship with Shirkey Golf Club in Richmond, the Bearcats are playing their home matches at Excelsior Springs Golf Course, where coach Mitch Comstock has been a member “for quite a while,” he said. “A lot of it had to do with (the) financial aspect,” Comstock said March 18. “We were being charged the same price at Shirkey’s as teams that had both a spring and a fall team. And with us only having a team in the spring, we were able to get over (in Excelsior Springs) for a cheaper price.” Comstock is coaching four Bearcats in Orrick’s first year at Excelsior Springs. They include three seniors on varsity: his son, Dylan, a 2019 Class 1 state qualifier who has signed to play men’s golf at Park University in Parkville; Bishop Grimm, the nephew of retired sports editor and journalist Russ Green; and Kansas State University-bound David Brown.
