Bearcats 3rd at Richmond triangular

RICHMOND – After playing in a triangular with Richmond and Knob Noster on Monday at Shirkey Golf Course, Orrick first-year high schooler Jeffrey Singleton said he needs more practice. “Practice means progress,” Singleton said. Singleton joined three other Bearcats who contributed to Orrick’s third-place varsity team score, 277. Maddox Peterson led the way, finishing the nine-hole, par-36 round with a 67 (+31). Jacob McElwee shot a 68 (+32). Singleton and Sky Furner each shot a 71 (+35). Hannah Adams, Orrick’s No. 5 golfer, shot a 72 (+36). Coach Mitch Comstock hoped his all-freshmen squad continued learning how to negotiate golf courses as they played older competition Monday. “That’s one of the biggest things with golf is how to get it (ball) from Point A to Point B in the most efficient way possible, so the more you can play, the more you can be around people that do it well, the better off you’re going to be,” Comstock said.
