School was in session in a sense Monday morning, when Richmond varsity football coach Nick Persell and his Spartans convened on the high school campus for the first day of a two-day, single-team camp.
Before going to the practice field to drill, the Spartans studied video in the multipurpose building from recent multiteam camp sessions. Richmond’s recent multiteam camp schedule included July 17-18 sessions at Winnetonka High School in Kansas City and July 2425 sessions at Pleasant Hill.
The video study session was in keeping with previous Monday single-team camp sessions in July, according to Persell. He and his staff held the sessions to help give the Spartans a sense of what their regular-season routine will be like, he said.
“The first thing we do after a game is watch the film and evaluate it with our team, so (we’re) kind of trying to create that same situation here in the summertime,” Persell said.
