Aggies pile up rushing yards, points in routing Santa Fe
Norborne Hardin-Central varsity 8-man football coach Andrew Watson wanted to make sure his Aggies didn’t overlook Santa Fe last week.
They didn’t. NHC exploded for 50 first-quarter points, Watson recalled Monday on the Aggies’ practice field at Hardin-Central. They finished the Sept. 13 meeting at Hardin-Central with an 80-20 win.
“Offensively, we were … executing, … knowing our assignments,” Watson said. “I thought we ran the ball really well.”
The Aggies (3-0) ran the football well enough to tally 346 yards. Kalel Bowman, a Hardin-Central senior and homecoming king candidate, officially led the way with 136 yards and four touchdowns on six carries.
Bowman credited NHC’s linemen with his outing. The line has “improved a lot from last year,” he said. In fact, they’re blocking so well that, once a ball-carrier gets past the line of scrimmage, the field is “pretty much clear,” Bowman said.
