CARROLLTON – History and myth suggest Menelaus, king of the Spartans, joined about two dozen other Greeks – enough for a small football team – who hid in a hollow horse to sneak through city gates to defeat the Trojans.
The Richmond Spartans needed no deception to defeat the Carrollton Trojans last week.
From the sidelines in the second half, senior quarterback Keyshaun Elliott and senior wideout Layne Cavanah watched their Spartans finish off the Trojans 54-7 Oct. 1 on the road.
Benched by an ankle injury, Cavanah evaluated how the Spartans had played on both sides of the ball.
“We just killed them in everything – defense, offense, special teams. They just couldn’t hang with us,” he said.
A four-year starter, Elliott left the game with a comfortable lead.
