Dear Editor, A dedicated group of volunteers is breathing new life into a place where history rests beneath the soil. The Richmond Cemetery, one of the area’s most historically rich burial grounds, has seen a heartfelt revival in recent months, thanks to a growing community effort to maintain and preserve the integrity of its headstones, grounds and the stories they represent. These preservation efforts were recently blessed with a remarkable discovery – the headstone of Catherine Page, long thought to be lost to time. Uncovered through careful cleaning and restoration, the stone is more than just a marker; it is a window into the past and a symbol of what can be accomplished when community members come together with a shared purpose. Cemetery deed owner Megan Pendleton, who was entrusted with the property and its legacy, has welcomed the many hearts and hands in this grassroots preservation movement.
