Dear Editor, I recently found out for several years I have been paying taxes assessed on the value of a basement, which I do not have. I had the assessor out to verify I don’t have a basement and was told the taxes would be adjusted for next year, but I was out of luck for this year because they have closed the books. However, as we all know, this year’s taxes are not due until December. I believe the least that should be done is to adjust them for this year. I hope all the citizens of Ray County will call and find out if they, too, are being unfairly taxed. Sincerely, Teresa Blakeman Ray County
