Now that the local election has concluded, the yard signs are beginning to vanish and the lively discussions about candidates and issues have settled down. For some, the results brought celebration; for others, disappointment. However, regardless of winning or losing, there’s something significant to acknowledge: voters showed up. They participated. We cared enough to vote. And that is something we should all take pride in. Emotions tend to run high after an election, especially one that feel important to us personally. It’s natural to feel discouraged if things don’t turn out the way we hoped. When we pour our energy into a cause or a candidate, we want to see that effort pay off, but even when the outcome isn’t what we wanted, our engagement still matters.
