The elections are over, and no matter who won the presidency – if that has been decided – now is the time to come together for the common good. At the time of this writing, five days before Election Day, no one knows whether former Vice President Joe Biden or President Donald Trump will win. Polls show Biden will win. But there is no certainty, as 2016 proved. What is certain is that – as residents of Excelsior Springs, Richmond, and other communities in Ray and Clay counties begin pulling political signs from their yards – the continuation of divisive politics needs to end. National issues are piling up and they need a unified answer. Consider... • COVID-19 has killed more than 230,000 people. Imagine driving through Excelsior Springs, Richmond, Kearney, Liberty and Gladstone and seeing no one. Every house is empty. Every business, church, school and community center – empty.
