Commissioner clears rumors, talks goals
Ray County Presiding Commissioner Billy Gaines said the commission is in good shape for the 2024 new year and outlined county goals for 2024.
“Our plan for 2024 is to oversee all boards in Ray County and ensure the taxpayers are getting what they are paying for. We are going to work with the state and Mid-American Regional Council (MARC) to widen Hwy 210,” said Gaines.
Ray County was introduced into MARC in November, and Gaines said there will be a MARC public meeting at the Eagleton Civic Center, 1015 West Royle Street in Richmond, starting at 3 p.m. Wednesday January 17.
He said additional goals for the Ray County Commissioners will be to begin creating more ordinances, updating the planning and zoning mapping system, and trying to bring in more business.
Gaines said he was diagnosed with stage four cancer this year but has no side effects, noting treatment is going well.
