William “Bill” Everett Lauck, 77, of Kansas City, Kan., passed away Sunday, Jan. 26, 2025, at Delmar Gardens of Overland Park, Kan., from complications due to diabetes. Bill was born Nov. 23, 1947, in Excelsior Springs, the son of Everett and Doris (Shawcross) Lauck. He was united in marriage to Carol Case Lauck on March 31, 1972. To this union, there were three children born: Chad Everett Lauck, who died shortly after birth; Heather Ann (Lauck) Patterson; and Stephen William Lauck. They later divorced.

Bill married Marcia Blad Stevenson Lauck on March 27, 2004.

He was preceded in death by his parents and infant son.

Survivors include his wife, Marcia, of the home; daughter, Heather Patterson of Kansas City; son, Stephen (Ashlyn) Lauck of Springfield; brother, Jack (Faye) Lauck of Richmond; and four grandchildren, Kailee Rae Lauck of Cassville, Shaylan McKinna Lauck of Clever, Addison Sterling of Springfield and Avery Marie Lauck of Springfield.

Other survivors include four stepchildren: Taylor (Jennifer) Davis III of Wilsonville, Ore.; Tricia (John) Davis Eddy of Topeka, Kan.; Mitchell Stevenson of Topeka; and Mark (Cassandra) Stevenson of Topeka. He also is survived by four step-grandchildren, Caleb Eddy of Fort Collins, Colo., Hayden Eddy of Topeka, Austin Stevenson of Topeka and Charlotte Stevenson of Topeka; two brothers-in-law, Randall (Janette) Blad of Homer, Ala., and Ronald (Jana) Blad of Belleville, Kan.

Bill attended Richmond schools and graduated in 1965 from Richmond High School.

Bill had the gift of gab and loved a good joke, and always had a great story to tell. He was smart, funny and a hard worker.

He loved cars and spent most of his working life buying cars; selling cars and car parts; and delivering cars, car parts and car titles.

Bill had many friends who knew him as a great friend – kind and good. Above all, he loved his family, his children and his granddaughters.

He was a hero to his children. Bill will be remembered for his kindness and his good heart.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the donor’s choice, Fleming Baptist Church, Tunnel to Towers or Samaritan’s Purse. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home; 507 E. Main St.-P.O. Box 190; Richmond, MO 64085.

Visitation with funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 31, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond, with visitation beginning at noon and services to follow at 1 p.m. Interment will be in Richmond Memory Gardens.
