Vivian Ruth (Liles) Karl, 91, of Richmond passed away Sunday, Sept. 24, 2023, at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond.

Vivian was born on Jan. 13, 1932, in Swanwick Township, the daughter of James M. and Grace (Brown) Liles. Survivors include: James Karl (Janet), Ronnie Karl (Cheryl) and Michael Karl (Linda Lauck); and her sister, Donna “Lucille” Wicker. She also is survived by a lot of nieces and nephews.

Other survivors include her grandkids, Kristie Hanse, Raymond and Terri Vanderpool, Jimmy and Jennifer Karl, Ronnie Karl II, Ryan Karl and Whitney Gooch (Chris Stockton); great-grandkids, including Derek, Andrew, Kyle, Makayla, Raeley, Chanz, Katelynne, Jacob, Greyson, Meadow, Tatum, Wyatt and Watson; and great-great-grandkids, including Jacob, Clayton, Austin, Brooklynn, Izabel, Dyson, Cleo, Clara, Oliver and Amir.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald “Dick” Karl; son, Marvin Karl; five sisters, Ellen Louise Young, Geraldine Fitch, JoAnn O’Dell, Mary White and Judith Harris; two brothers, Harry Liles and Charles Liles; and three nephews, Harry Liles Jr., James O’Dell and Jimmy Wasmer.

Vivian was raised in Richmond, where she graduated high school in 1950.

She was a hard worker and did factory work for most of her life. Vivian started at Avesco, then went to Gates and finally retired from Gilmour. She also volunteered at the Salvation Army.

Vivian loved going to garage sales with her greatgranddaughter Katelynne. She also enjoyed putting together puzzles, doing word searches and swinging on her porch swing.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 18, at Richmond Memory Gardens. Visitation was held 1-1:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 18, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond.
