Thelma F. (Norris) Dye, 100, of Higginsville, passed away Sunday, Feb. 20, 2022, at John Knox Village in Higginsville.

Thelma was born on Oct. 5, 1921, in Ray County, the daughter of Henry and Bessie (Taylor) Smith.  She was first married to Kenneth Eugene Norris of Rural Orrick on July 26, 1936; he preceded her in death in 1986.  She was the united in marriage to Ralph Dye of Rural Higginsville; they were married for 22 years; he preceded her in death.

Survivors include two sons, Dennis (Pamala) Norris of Camden and Dwight (Judy) Norris of Independence; three grandchildren, Penny Reynolds, Melissa (Jerry) Ingram Holcomb, and Shelly (Jared) Landis Belton; seven great-grandchildren, Francesca Mulligans, J.R. Reynolds, Kenneth Damon Norris, Lindsey Baldwin, Scott Ingram, Stephanie Ingram, and Shelby Chase; and seven great-great-grandchildren, Temperance Mulligans, Hunter Ray Reynolds, Sydney Landis, Thadius Landis, Samuel Baldwin, Isaac Baldwin, and Anniston Chase.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; sister, Betty Underwood; and grandson, Randall E. Norris.

Thelma was a housewife and homemaker.  She was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Orrick Baptist Church, where she played the organ and piano.  Later she joined the First Baptist Church in Higginsville, where she also played the organ and piano.  Thelma enjoyed oil painting, her family, and friends.
