Terrell Darwin “Terry” Phillips, 82, of Richmond passed away Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2024, at North Kansas City Hospital. Terry was born May 28, 1941, in East St. Louis, Ill., the son of Chester and Doris (Hurst) Phillips. He was united in marriage to Marilyn Farmer of Richmond on June 21, 1987. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include his son, Aaron (Christine) Phillips of Shawnee, Kan.; and daughter, Tera (Richard) Holland of Overland Park, Kan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Carrie Lynne Phillips; and brother, Raymond Phillips.

Terry was a 1961 graduate of Wentworth Military Academy in Lexington and later attended college at the University of Mississippi.

He owned and operated Northtown Precious Metals and Officer’s Quarters in North Kansas City. Terry also owned and operated the T&M Army and Navy Shop in Richmond. He was a substitute teacher in Richmond for 19 years.

Terry accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and served him.

He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Richmond First Baptist Church. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home; 507 E. Main St.P.O. Box 190; Richmond, MO 64085.

Visitation with funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 20, at the First Baptist Church in Richmond, with visitation beginning at noon, followed by the services at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Richmond Memory Gardens.
