Stanley E. Moppin, 81, of Richmond, died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2021, at North Kansas City Hospital.

Stanley was born on Aug. 30, 1939, in Henrietta, the son of George Andy and Mamie (Mershon) Moppin Sr.

He was united in marriage to Sandy L. Wright of Richmond on June 21, 1959. She survives of the home.

Additional survivors include: two sons, Sam (Amy) Moppin of Lawson and Matt (Cassi) of Liberty; daughter, Kelly (Archie) Rardon of Polo; 11 grandchildren, Adam (Courtney) Moppin, Paige (Robert) Bradley, Brady (Lauren) Moppin, Carl Moppin, Stanley Moppin, Rylen Moppin, Jacey (Nathan) Curtis, Baylee (Dustin) Clock, Rebekah (Greg) Sams, Carey Markley and Kymee (Bobby) Harrison; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and three sisters, Glenda Viles of Richmond, Eva Bell (Howard) Wollard of Independence and Effie Minyard.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Jamie Markley; six brothers, George Andy Moppin Jr., Fred Moppin, Melvin Moppin, Kenny Moppin, Albert Moppin and D.C. Moppin; and four sisters, Mary, Martha, JoAnn and Mamie.

Stanley was reared and educated in Henrietta and graduated in 1959 from Lexington High School. He was a skilled craftsman in wood working and was published in several home design magazines. Stanley worked as a cabinet maker for Maderite Cabinets in Leawood, Kansas, for 30 years. He then started his own cabinet business, Old Mill Cabinets, in Richmond. Stanley also worked for The Elms Hotel and Spa, helping the facility with its remodeling and stayed there until he retired. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Richmond. He volunteered as a foster grandparent for the Head Start Program in Richmond.

Stanley was an avid NASCAR fan. He especially loved his family, grandkids and great-grandkids. He will be dearly missed by all his friends and family.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Northern Missouri Royal Rangers. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home; 507 East Main Street-P.O. Box 190; Richmond, MO 64085.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 18, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 17, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Richmond Memory Gardens. Masks are required to attend the services.
