Sharon Blacketer

Sharon Kay Blacketer of Richmond was born May 24, 1950, in Kansas City to Clifford Joe Rogers and Julia (Judy) Miriam Bratcher Rogers. She passed away, surrounded by love, leaving behind a legacy of family, faith and quiet strength. Sharon graduated in 1968 from Oak Park High School. In 2002, she married Guy Blacketer, with whom she shared a devoted and family-centered life.

Over the years, Sharon worked various jobs to help support her family. In 2005, she retired from American Wilcon Plastics in Orrick.

She was a talented cross-stitcher who found joy and peace in her craft until rheumatoid arthritis limited her ability to continue.

Sharon was a member of Winnwood Baptist Church, where her faith remained a constant source of comfort and guidance throughout her life.

Sharon is survived by her husband, Guy Blacketer; daughter, Christie White (Polo); and sons, Shane White and wife Carmen (Polo), John Beaver and wife Isabella (Richmond), Joshua Beaver (Richmond) and Kelley E. Blacketer (Indiana).

Other survivors include her cherished grandchildren: Justin Carroll (Taylor), Brianna Carroll Wiggins (Westin), Carley Carroll, Annabelle Small, Tyler Newsome, Caitlin White, Dakota Heinman, Shelby Beaver, Raelynn Linder, Hudson Beaver, Hayden Beaver, Harrison Beaver, Kimberlyn Baysinger and Maverick McKinney (Indiana).

She was blessed to have great-grandchildren Jackson Carroll, Emily Steppe and Harley Carroll; and two additional great-grandsons.

In addition, Sharon is survived by her brothers, John Rogers (Patricia), Gary Rogers and Jim Rogers (Sandy); sister-in-law, Lori Blacketer Bergman; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Clifford Joe Rogers and Julia (Judy) Miriam Bratcher Rogers; and beloved sister-in-law, Shirley Rogers.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Dec. 20 at Winnwood Baptist Church, 4513 N. Jackson, Kansas City. A short visitation will be held at 10:30.
