Sammy Max Taylor
Sammy Max Taylor, 87, of Orrick, MO, passed away Friday, July 23, 2021.
Max was born on March 5, 1934 to Virgil (Dick) Taylor and Hannah (Clevenger) Taylor in Orrick. He married Shirley Branham on March 16, 1957, at the Orrick Christian Church in Orrick, MO.
Max was a 1952 graduate of Orrick High School. He was a Korean War Veteran, serving in the U.S. Army from January 1957 to August 1961. He worked on the family farm in rural Orrick until 1957, when he went into the service.
Max spent his work career at the TWA Overhaul Base in Kansas City, from 1965 until his retirement in 1996. Max was an avid golfer, who also enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with family and friends.
Max was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Charlene Smith and Florence Stonner; brother, James Taylor; son-in-law, Eric Moore; and numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Max is survived by his wife, Shirley; three daughters and sons-in-law, Kelly Moore, Shelly (Duane) Pettis, and Kimberly (Kent) Templeton; his five grandchildren and their spouses, Keila (Moore) and David Westfall, Shayli Moore, Michelle (Templeton) and Corey Enss, Johnathan Pettis, and Courtney (Pettis) Prowse; five great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Dwight McMullen, Jim Barger, and Robert Smith; and sisters-in-law, Vicki Barger and Shirley (Jean)
Taylor.
Due to Covid19 restrictions, a Celebration of Life is planned for a later date.
Memorials may be made to the Orrick Fire Department, Orrick Christian Church, or Orrick Community Center.
