Roy Lea Drake 48, of Richmond, passed away on Monday, Sept. 20, 2021, peacefully at his home.

Roy was born on Feb. 8, 1973, Kansas City, Missouri, the son of the late Roger Drake Sr. and Virginia (Birdsong) Arzola.  On Feb. 24, 1995, Roy and Tonya (Jackson) Drake were united in marriage.

Roy was most known for his exceptional operating skills as a Local 101 Union Operator, which often his reputation proceeded him. He was an avid sports fan having a great love for the Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals. He loved working on vehicles with his sons and son in law, he owned many sports cars in his lifetime. He loved Ford Mustangs, although his favorite vehicle was the 1969 Mercury Cougar. He took extreme pride in his children and grandchildren and loved them each equally. Roy loved to grill and spend time outside with his family, every holiday included a cookout. However, 4th of July was his favorite celebration! It was always a beautiful show. He loved to hike and explore new surroundings whenever he got the chance, especially when it included creeks, rivers, or lakes. He was the definition of a jack of all trades being able to figure out and fix any issue that may arise and was always there to help his children. 

Roy is survived in legacy by sons, Cameron (Jacey) Drake of Wellington, Lee Drake of Richmond, and Cyrus Drake of Richmond; daughter, Alyssa (Ryan) Silkwood of Rayville; brothers, Roger (Kourtney) Drake of Parkville, Joseph Arzola, Daniel Arzola, Shane Arzola and Blake Arzola, all of Kansas City; sister Amanda Drake of Kansas City; and four grandchildren, Scarlett Silkwood, Clayton Drake, Freyja Silkwood, and Emrie Drake.

Roy was proceeded in death by his brother, John Michael Drake and his father, Roger Dale Drake Sr.

Memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, Oct. 9, 2021, at Thurman Funeral Home, 507 East Main St Richmond, MO from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.
