Robert “Bob” Andrew Bowen, 80, a resident of Richmond, passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2023. Bob was born on Sept. 29, 1942, in Atlanta to Robert Edwin and Minnie Katherine (Owen) Bowen. He was married to Janice Wilson of Richmond on June 26, 1970. She preceded him in death on Sept. 12, 2020. Bob is survived by one son, Robert Dean Bowen of Blue Springs; three daughters, Sarah Bowen of Richmond, Patty (Angela DeVine) Bowen of Murphysboro, Ill., and Becky (Shane Boutz) Bowen of Kansas City; two grandchildren, Izac and Dustin Bowen; and one great-granddaughter, Hazel Bowen.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and one sister, Joan Gunter.

Bob was educated in Richmond and was a 1960 graduate of Richmond High School. He went on to work for the Missouri Department of Transportation for 43 years until his retirement.

Bob was a devoted member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Richmond and the Knights of Columbus Council, No. 1998, in Richmond.

He was devoted to his family and was the gentlest man you would ever meet. He will be greatly missed by those who knew him.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made in Bob’s honor to the Knights of Columbus Council, No. 1998, in Richmond. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home; 507 E. Main St.-P.O. Box 190; Richmond, MO 64085.

Visitation and a Mass of Christian Burial were held Wednesday, Aug. 2, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Richmond, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m., followed by services at 11.

Inurnment will be held at a later date in Todd’s Chapel Cemetery.
