Richard Orial Dunwoodie, 85, of Camden, died Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at North Kansas City Hospital. 

Richard was born on March 10, 1936, in Camden, the son of Glenn William and Mazzie Temple (Plummer) Dunwoodie.  He was united in marriage to Patty Ann Briant of Richmond on October 7, 1955; she survives of the home. 

Additional survivors include: four children: Donna Jo Dunwoodie of Richmond, Michael Ray (Chris) Dunwoodie of Camden, Karen Sue (Stuart) Thomas of Grain Valley, and Roy Dean (Teresa) Dunwoodie of Richmond; 15 grandchildren: Chad (Wendy) Coldwell, Tammy Jo Prouty (Brad Hudson), Michael Dunwoodie, II, Sabrina (Brian) Clayton, Abby Walters, Kallie Yarbro, Shelby Hobbs, Jodee Thomas, Jeremy Thomas, Jordan Gooch, Adam Dunwoodie, Alex (Johnna) Dunwoodie, Cody Gilbert, Dakota (Joely) Peel, Sadie (Brett) Benefiel; 23 great-grandchildren, with one on the way; and two brothers, James (Brenda) Dunwoodie of Richmond and Paul David (Tammy) Dunwoodie of Braymer. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Joseph Arthur Dunwoodie and Glenn Aaron Dunwoodie, and two sisters-in-law, Judy Dunwoodie and Gayle Dunwoodie. 

Richard was reared and educated in Camden and graduated from Camden High School in 1954.  He was a Mason, member of Ray Lodge #223, and a member of the Camden Methodist Church.  Richard was a retired, over-the-road truck driver for over 30 years; he had no wrecks or tickets during his career.  Richard also worked for area farmers, Bob Vandiver and Perry Vandiver. 

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either the Camden Methodist Church or the Ray County Fair Board.  They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 East Main Street-P.O. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085. 

Visitation with funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond, with visitation beginning at 1:00 P.M., with services to follow at 2:00 P.M.  Burial will be in the Cravens Cemetery, east of Camden.  Please remember to share your memories of Richard with the family by visiting www.thurmanfuneralhome.com
