Reverend John Benjamin Selleck
Reverend John Benjamin Selleck, 80, of Braymer, died Friday, January 7, 2022, at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond.
John was born on May 5, 1941, in Sayer, PA, the son of Jesse and Gertrude (Bierfreund) Selleck. He was united in marriage to Lorraine June Tripp of New York on August 19, 1961; she preceded him in death on January 6, 2019.
Survivors include: two brothers, Walter (Marilyn) Selleck of Washburn and David Selleck of Clarion, PA; many nieces, nephews, friends, and past parishioners of all the churches he served.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one brother, Ivan and four sisters, Esther, Grace, Eva, and Mary.
John was currently serving as the associate pastor at the Assembly of God Church in Richmond. Rev. John began his ministry while still in high school and had preached all over the country and served many churches over the years. John served small churches to mega churches, ghetto churches in New York City and had held revivals in nearly all fifty states. For the past twenty years he served at churches in Missouri including, Waverly, Gilman City, Orrick, and currently Richmond. John enjoyed the country life living on his acreage south of Braymer at Tinney Grove. He was an animal lover who raised goats and enjoyed feeding the birds. He will be dearly missed by all his friends especially his church family.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the children’s programs at the Assembly of God Church in Richmond. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 East Main Street-P.O. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085.
Visitation with funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 13, 2022, at the Assembly of God Church in Richmond, with visitation beginning at 12:00 p.m., with services to follow at 1:00 p.m. Inurnment will be at a later date in Tinney Grove Cemetery south of Braymer.
