Ralph J. Kalberloh, CAE, age 98, died Jan. 21, 2024, at his home. He was born July 21, 1925, in Excelsior Springs, a son of Albert H. and Goldie M. (Hatfield) Kalberloh. He was married on Sept. 11, 1945, to Joan H. Fry, who died June 22, 1994. On Dec. 29, 1995, he married Barbara Ann (Ranger) Rozier, who survives of the home in Jefferson City. He also is survived by a daughter, two stepsons, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. In addition, his brother, Roger (Linda) Kalberloh, survives in Excelsior Springs.

A former resident of Excelsior Springs, he moved to Jefferson City in 1955, when he became executive vice president of the Missouri Jaycees. He also served as executive director of the Missouri Limestone Producers Association and the Missouri Safety Council, and retired after serving 31 years as executive vice president of the Missouri Automobile Dealers Association.

Kalberloh was a tail gunner on a heavy bomber, a B-17, during World War II. His plane was shot down Feb. 3, 1945, on a mission to Berlin. He evaded capture for five days without food, surrendered to a German farmer on Feb. 8 and was liberated on April 29, 1945, by Gen. George Patton and his 3rd Armored Division.

Friends were to be received 4-6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 29, at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors. A funeral service was scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, at Grace Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Bill Nesbit officiating. Ralph was scheduled to receive full military honors following the service at the Hawthorn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Capital Region Medical Center Foundation in memory of Ralph Kalberloh.
