Maxine R. (Bylieu) Doss, of rural Richmond, Missouri, peacefully passed away at 10:35 a.m., Saturday, May 23, 2020, at her home with her loving family by her side.

Maxine lived gracefully and was granted an earthly life of 72 years, seven months and one day.

On Oct. 22, 1947, in Rayville, Missouri, the home of Albert James and Lula Francis (Manley) Bylieu was blessed with a daughter, naming her Maxine. She attended Marion Grade School, middle school in Knoxville and continued her education at Richmond High School.

Maxine was united in marriage in Hardin, Missouri, on Aug. 30, 1965, to Thomas Dewey Doss Sr., and this union was blessed with one son, Thomas “Tom” Dewey Jr. They shared 54 years of marriage and loved one another dearly. They shared lots of laughs and a few tears, but their family time was the most important, and the memories they made. Maxine was an amazing grandmother, and she and Tom Sr. felt pure joy as they watched their grandchildren grow from tiny babies to young adults. Tom Sr. survives of the home.

Maxine was a homemaker and remained in the home with their son. She had mastered the areas of home economics, especially cooking large family meals. She looked forward to mushroom hunting every spring and loved to go fishing. She once caught an 11-pound bass on a pond not far from their farm. Maxine thoroughly enjoyed antique shopping, and she collected many unique items over the years. Her most extensive collection included anything to do with the Civil War. She loved to read about the times during the Civil War and had a few favorite magazines: Reminisce, Good Old Days, Country Living and Pioneer Woman. She absolutely loved all animals, and in return, they loved her back, but her grandchildren were what she considered perfection, and she loved them unconditionally.

She was dearly loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed.

Maxine is survived by her husband, Thomas Dewey Doss Sr. of the home.; a son, Thomas D. Doss Jr. and his wife Debra of Richmond, Missouri; three sisters, Sarah Doss of Hardin, Missouri, Audrey Fields of Gladstone, Missouri, Eva Rickstrew and her husband Roy of Stratford, Missouri, and Mary Bylieu of Hardin, Missouri; three grandchildren, Amanda Perkinson, Sherri Doss and Marcus Doss; and three great-grandchildren, Madison Perkinson, Makenzie Perkinson and Danny Tucker III.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Lula Bylieu; brothers, Albert Bylieu, Alvin Bylieu, Allen Bylieu, and an infant brother, William Riley Bylieu; two brothers-in-law, John Fields and Edward Doss; and sadly, she endured the loss of a grandson, Thomas D. Doss III.

There will be a celebration of life memorial service at a later date. The family will post the date, time and place of the services when the arrangements have been completed.

As an expression of sympathy and in memory of Maxine, memorial contributions may be made to Dockery Cemetery or Family Choice. They may be left at or mailed to Foster Funeral Chapels, 201 S. Main St., Carrollton, Missouri, 64633.
