Mava Lucille Pyle, 84, of Richmond passed away Monday, July 24, 2023, at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond. Mava was born on May 20, 1939, in Rule, Ark., the daughter of Clyde and Julia (Wise) Sims. Survivors include her daughter, Pamela L. Swope (Craig Kear) of Richmond; two sons, Michael A. (Stacey) Pyle of Rapid City, S.D., and adoptive son Daniel (Shannon) Davis of Colorado; three grandchildren, Erin (Chad) Minnick, Taylor (Foster) Bartholow and Levi (Tessa) Pyle; three great-grandchildren, Mason Minnick and Presley Minnick, and a baby Bartholow on the way; and sister, Evelyn Ownbey of Gladstone.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Glen Sims.

Mava attended Green Forest Schools in Arkansas, graduating with the class of 1957. In 1963, she moved to Henrietta and lived there for 41 years before moving in 2004 to Richmond.

In later years, Mava enjoyed her retirement, after having worked with the Richmond R-XVI School District for 28 years as a secretary at the high school.

She was a member of the Henrietta Baptist Church. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Presley’s Journey. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home; 507 E. Main St.-P.O. Box 190; Richmond, MO 64085.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 31, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will be held 4-6 p.m. Sunday, July 30, at the funeral home.
