Mary Jane Sollars, 99, a resident of Richmond and a native of Gravity, IA. Mary passed away on Saturday, July 3, 2021, in Richmond.  She was born on a farm near Gravity, IA, on April 20, 1922, the daughter of Orren Cleaver and Emma May West.  On August 31, 1940, she married Arthur Darrell Sollars of Gravity, IA; he preceded her in death on August 25, 1996.

She was reared and educated in the area of her birth.  Mary and Art moved to Richmond in 1961.  She worked in sales at several downtown Richmond businesses over the years.  She loved to play cards at the senior center and sit on her porch watching the neighborhood kids play.  She absolutely loved her grandchildren.

She is survived by her son, Robert (Patty) Sollars of Richmond; eleven grandchildren, Jeff, Judy, Joe, Julie, James, Jeremy, Corine, Ashley, Nathan, Sam, and Michael; nineteen great-grandchildren and eleven great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, daughter, Justene Martin, son, Lawrence “Gene,” infant daughter, Patricia Ann, great-grandson, Derik Martin, four brothers, Claude, Lloyd, Frank, and John, sister, Darlene, and three siblings in infancy.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Gravity, IA, Community Center at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, July 10, 2021.  Inurnment of ashes at Washington Cemetery in Taylor County Iowa at a later date.  Please remember to share your memories of Mary with the family by visiting www.thurmanfuneralhome.com.
