Marian Louise Shaner, 75, a resident of Hardin, passed away Friday, Oct. 25, 2024, at her home.
Marian was born Nov. 9, 1948, in Ray County to Joe and Mary (Corbet) Curtis. On Nov. 11, 1966, Marian married Forrest Shaner. He preceded her in death on Jan. 30, 2017.
She is survived by her son, Curtis Shaner of Hardin; sister, Carol Curtis of the home; brother, Timmy Curtis of Richmond; and three grandchildren, Desirae (Jeremy) Bates, Dustin (Talia) Shaner and Daylea (Hunter Hattok) Hattok. Other survivors include six great-grandchildren, Chesney Bates, Albany Bates, Rayce Shaner, Sailor Shaner, Haven Shaner and Journey Hattok.
Marian was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Tommy Curtis; and great-granddaughter, Harper Hattok.
A proud 1966 graduate of Hardin-Central High School, Marian was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, creating cherished memories that will last a lifetime. Marian had a passion for painting and decorating, often expressing her creativity through beautiful home decor that brought warmth to her loved ones. She was deeply rooted in her Christian faith, which guided her throughout her life.
Marian will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. The family suggests memorial donations in her honor be made to the American Diabetes Association. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home; 507 E. Main Street-P.O. Box 190; Richmond, MO 64085.
A memorial visitation and celebration of life were scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 30, with the visitation to begin at 1 p.m. and the celebration of life to begin at 2 in the Thurman Funeral Home chapel, Richmond.
