Margaret “Ann” King, 89, of Orrick passed away Friday, June 7, 2024, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Margaret was born Aug. 29, 1934, in Fleming, the daughter of Floyd and Ethel Lottie (Brinkley) Claypole.
She was united in marriage to Arch Ellis King of Orrick on May 19, 1956. He preceded her in death on Aug. 11, 1996.
Survivors include three sons, Michael Arch “Mike” (Sheryl) King, Terry Kurtis King and Floyd “Kent” King, all of Orrick; eight grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; two daughters-in-law, Linda King and Inga King, both of Orrick; and a sister, Linda Claypole of Orrick.
In addition to her parents and husband, Margaret was preceded in death by two sons, James Robert “Jim” King and Larry Lee King; and her brother, Roy Lee Claypole.
Margaret, a native of her birthplace, received her upbringing and education in the same area.
Devoted to her role as a housewife and homemaker, she lovingly nurtured her five sons.
Margaret contributed her talents to various workplaces, including Price Candy, Whittaker Cable and Arnette Limited in Richmond, and Avsco Plastics in Excelsior Springs.
Her affection for animals, particularly her cherished dog, was evident throughout her life. Among her treasured memories were the times spent with her family at their cabin by Lake Pomme de Terre, a retreat they built together.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Shirkey Hospice. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home; 507 E. Main St.-P.O. Box 190; Richmond, MO 64085.
Visitation with funeral services will be held Friday, June 14, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. and the services to follow at 11. Interment will be in South Point Cemetery, Orrick.
