Lloyd Raymond Stilfield Jr., age 93, of Polo passed away Friday evening, Jan. 12, 2024, at his home in Polo. Lloyd was born March 28, 1930, the son of Lloyd Raymond and Avanell (Pollard) Stilfield at his grandfather’s home in rural Lathrop. He spent his formative years in Lawson and held many fond memories of the area. He grew up in Lawson and graduated in 1948 from Liberty High School.

On May 17, 1952, Lloyd married Nancy Cowan. To this union of over 57 years, four children were born.

Lloyd served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and was stationed in Anchorage, Alaska.

Lloyd was a lifelong farmer. He began his insurance career with the Missouri Farm Bureau until forming Stilfield Insurance Services, retiring from there in 2012.

Following the death of Nancy, he was united in marriage to Dolores “Dee” Meyer on April 19, 2014, at the Cannan Hill Church of the Nazarene in Lawson, where Lloyd was a lifelong member.

Lloyd will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He never met a stranger, as people were drawn to his kindness and quick wit.

Lloyd and his wife Nancy impacted many lives during their years together. They were active in all aspects of the Nazarene denomination and loved their church family.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nancy Stilfield; son, Terry Lee Stilfield; and grandson, Philip Robert Stilfield.

He is survived by his wife, Dolores “Dee” Stilfield of the home. Other survivors include his children, Michael Lloyd Stilfield Sr. (Karen Williams) of Lawson, Jennifer Lynn Hufft of Olathe, Kan., and Lesa Gaye Blythe (Brent) of Omaha, Neb.; stepdaughter, Cindy Kemp (Jeff) of San Antonio; and grandchildren, Michael Lloyd Stilfield Jr. (Tonya) of Lawson, Jason Hufft of Olathe, Terri Meredith (Shane) of Idaho Springs, Colo., Julie Vollertsen (Jake) of Olathe, Chad Blythe (Brooke) of Omaha, Shana Von Knorring (Nick) of Omaha, Chelsea Blythe of Omaha and Chester Blythe of Omaha. In addition, 11 great-grandchildren, and extended family members and friends survive.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Canaan Hill Church of the Nazarene in care of the funeral home.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 21, at Cannan Hill Church of the Nazarene, located near Lawson. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church. Burial with full military honors will follow at Bethel Cemetery near Polo.
