Larry James Engler
Larry James Engler, 82 a native of Westbrook, MN, and resident of Richmond. He passed away on Thursday, December 9, 2021, at Lake Regional Health Systems in Osage Beach.
Larry was born on July 1, 1939, the son of Lawrence and Frances (Lindley) Engler. Larry was first married to Elverta Davis of Sedalia on April 2, 1960; they later divorced. He then married Sandra Barnett of Richmond on December 30, 1982; she survives of the home.
Additional survivors include: son, Mark (Maria) Engler of Mt. Vernon; three brothers, Lanny Engler of Westbrook, MN, Ronald J. (Kathy) Engler of Slayton, MN, and Robert (Connie) Engler of Roseau, MN; two grandchildren, Brent (Jeanna) Engler of Mt. Vernon and Joshua (Ashlynn) Engler of Aurora; three great grandchildren Kyleigh, Kelby, and Ivy Engler.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Troy Engler.
Larry was reared and educated in Westbrook, MN, where he graduated in 1957. He was a proud veteran having served 21 years in the United States Air Force. He also worked for Ford for 30 years and after retiring from Ford, he was determined to live his life to the fullest. He loved going fishing, hunting, and spending time at the Lake. He loved to just be out having fun even if it was just going out to dinner with his wife. He was a dedicated member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church where he served as church president. He was a proud member of the American Legion (Ray County Vets) where he served on the honor guard for veteran funerals for many years. Larry mowed the Ray County Fair grounds and served on the Ray County Fair Board.
The family suggest memorial contributions be made to Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church or Ray County Vets. Memorial contributions can be drop off or mailed to in care of the family to Thurman Funeral home 507 East Main – P.O. 190, Richmond, MO 64085.
Visitation and Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, December 16, 2021, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond, with visitation starting at 12:30 p.m. with funeral service to follow at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery. Military Honors provided by the United States Air Force and Ray County Vets.
