Louise grew up on a farm in the Missouri river bottoms in Henrietta and outside of Richmond MO. She graduated from Richmond High school in 1948 and moved to Kansas City to attend Junior College.
She worked as a secretary for Motorola Radio Gasket Engineering in Kansas City and met her husband, Jim at a USO dance. He asked her for a dance because she was the tallest women at the event. They married Mar. 7, 1954, and move to El Tora, CA where he was stationed in the US Marine Corps. They were married for 52 years until he passed on Jan. 13, 2006. Louise and Jim moved to Hagerstown, IN in 1959 where they lived until 2004.

She helped start the first Head Start program in Hagerstown, worked as a Kindergarten aid, volunteered as a Sunday School Teacher and Church Youth Group Leader, organized Hagerstown’s Healthy Community Healthy Youth (Search Institute), and served on the board for Ball State University Lutheran Campus Ministry. She was a strong Christian and spent many hours helping others and visiting the sick. While living in Hagerstown, she worked for Eltek Corporation as the office manager and bookkeeper and at Two Sisters. She was a long-time member of the Hagerstown History Club. In 2004 they moved to Friendship Village in Schaumburg, IL to be closer to their daughters and their families. Louise found several ways to volunteer at Friendship Village. She started a Flower Cup and Card Ministry for those in healthcare and acted as a buddy for new residents. Louise was a loving person who will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband James (Jim) Alan Fisher; her parents; and her brothers, Paul Barchers and wife Juanita, and Harold Barchers.
