Kathryn “Joanne” Boggess, 91, of Richmond, died Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2020, at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond.

Joanne was born on June 20, 1929, in Hardin, the daughter of Clifford Francis and Susie Ward (Wilson) Boggess.

Survivors include her first cousins, John Knipschild of Red Oak, Texas, Barbara Boggess Jolly of Rolland Park, Kansas, and Martha Drehle of Norborne. Many other cousins and extended family members also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Clifford Ward Boggess.

Joanne was reared and educated in Hardin and graduated in 1947 from Hardin High School. After high school, she started working in the banking industry, where she worked for Hardin State Bank and then U.S. Bank in Richmond, retiring after 39 years. She was a member of the Hardin First Baptist Church and served as church treasurer. She also served on the Hardin Cemetery Board for many years. Joanne was a loving person who enjoyed family reunions, especially the Boggess Family Reunion, which she helped organize every year. She was a giving person, especially to the children in her family. She loved to travel and had been to every state in the country, many other countries and also loved going on cruises.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either the Hardin First Baptist Church or the Hardin Cemetery. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home; 507 E. Main St.-P.O. Box 190; Richmond, MO 64085.

Visitation with graveside services took place on Tuesday, Oct. 20. Visitation was from 1 to 2 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Graveside service was held at 2:30 in the Hardin Cemetery. Rev.
