Karen Leah (Meador) Dudley, 63, of Richmond passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2024, in Richmond. Karen was born May 5, 1961, in Honolulu, the daughter of John Henry and Virginia (Talbert) Meador. She was united in marriage to Walter “Larry” Dudley of Polo. They later divorced. Survivors include her son, Jonathan (Misty) Meador; daughter, Angela (Ryan) Dudley; two grandchildren, Danica and Heaven; two brothers, Robert Meador and Steve Meador; and two sisters, Cheryl (Tom) Davis and Jo (Richard) Stevens.
In addition to her parents, Karen was preceded in death by her brother, John Wilson Meador; and sister, Bettie Louise Meador.
Karen was raised and educated in Hardin, where she developed a deep connection to her community. A lifelong learner, Karen was an avid reader of the Richmond News, keeping herself informed about local events and stories that mattered to her.
She had a warm and welcoming nature, often engaging in heartfelt conversations with friends, who cherished her kind spirit and thoughtful insights. Music was another passion that brought her joy, often filling her home with melodies that comforted her in life’s quiet moments. Karen’s presence will be deeply missed by her family and friends, whose lives she touched in countless ways.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Karen Dudley Memorial Fund. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home; 507 E. Main St.-P.O. Box 190; Richmond, MO 64085.
Visitation with memorial services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 18, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond, with the visitation beginning at 6 p.m., followed by the services at 7. Inurnment will be at a later date in Hardin Cemetery.
