Jimmie Ray "Muggs" Mullikin
Jimmie was born on September 27, 1944, in Excelsior Springs, the son of Elmer and Vivian (Ashby) Mullikin. He was united in marriage to Linda Jefferies on January 9, 1966; she survives of the home.
Additional survivors include: two daughters, Cindy (Michael) Estes of Richmond, and Mindy (Robert) Bates of Richmond; five grandchildren: Corissa (Justin) Hamilton, Brittnie Estes, Brogan (Daniel) Bridges, Curtis Williams and Clayton Williams; five great grandchildren, Emerson Rennison, Ellison Rennison, Colten Downs, Rhett Hamilton and Stetson Hamilton; two brothers Larry Mullikin of Richmond and Gary Mullikin of Henrietta.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Edward Lee in infancy.
Jimmie graduated from East High School in Independence. After high school, he proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp, serving in Vietnam. Jimmie worked 30 years and retired from General Motors and was a UAW member local #31. After retiring he continued to work for The City of Richmond Parks Department, and for the Ray County Sheriff’s Department. Then, later retiring from the Richmond R-XVI school district as a custodian. He especially loved playing the conductor for the school’s Polar Express night. He was a proud member of the Richmond Masonic Lodge for 45 years holding the highest title as Worshipful Master for the local lodge and Grand Sword Bearer for Grand Lodge. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 237 for 24 years, he enjoyed participating in Honor Guard. After retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing and riding his motorcycle. Jimmie was a talented wood worker and could fix anything. He was an avid sports fanatic; Royals baseball was his favorite.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, July 7, 2021, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at the funeral home, with a Masonic service, prior to visitation, starting at 5:45 P.M. Burial will be held in Richmond Memory Gardens with full military honors provided by the United States Marines and Ray County Veterans.
