Austin Pettiecord

Jason “Austin” Pettiecord, 26, of Richmond passed away unexpectedly Monday, May 6, 2024, from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. Austin was born Nov. 1, 1997, in Liberty, the son of Jason Darrold and Kelly Jo (Cook) Pettiecord. Survivors include his daughter, Marlee Rayn Pettiecord and her mother, Kristen Rogers, of Liberty; mother, Kelly (Teddy) White of Richmond; father, Jason (Holly) Pettiecord of Excelsior Springs; two brothers, Gavin White of Richmond and Aden Pettiecord of Excelsior Springs; and sister, Ella Grace Pettiecord of Excelsior Springs.

Other survivors include his grandparents, Darrold and Deniese Pettiecord of Kidder, Mike and Carol Knight of Lexington, Robert and Susan Eisenlohr of Higginsville, Allen and Renee Creswell of Liberty, and Bruce and Sue White of Richmond. Numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and other extended family members also survive.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Dennis Cook; and three cousins, Bryce Wheeler, Tyler Vaughn and Kyle Johnson.

Austin was raised and educated in Richmond. He worked as a mechanic in construction and as a tree trimmer.

Austin was a free spirit who enjoyed fast cars, good music, and spending time with his family and friends. He was a big animal lover who loved his dogs.

Family was the most important thing in his life. He loved his daughter, “Mini-Me”; mom; and dad more than anything. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Marlee Rayn Pettiecord. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home; 507 E. Main St.-P.O. Box 190; Richmond, MO 64085.

Visitation will be held 1-3 p.m. Friday, May 10, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Graveside services will follow the visitation at 3:30 in Southpoint Cemetery, Orrick.
