James Robert “Jim-Bob” Harrison, 93, of John Abernathy Road, Blairsville, Georgia, received his healing on Aug. 22, 2020, and is in the arms of his creator.

He was born on Feb. 16, 1927, in Richmond.

Jim was a loving, loyal husband and father. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Katherine T. Harrison.

He is survived by his daughters, Vicki (Joe) Harrison Gibby of Ellijay, Georgia; and Kim {Dean) McClain of Blairsville.

Survivors further include three grandchildren: Meghan (Justin) Glaze, LaFayette, Georgia; Crea (Cody) Rose, Centralia, Illinois; and Jacob Harrison McClain, Hamilton, Montana. He also had six greatgrandchildren: Ashtyn, Olivia, Lorelai, Harrison, Gabriel and Luke.

Jim was a World War II Navy veteran. He served hi country on board a U.S. destroyer.

After returning from World War II, he pursued a career in professional golfing in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he met the love of his life, Katherine “Kitty.” Jim and Kitty were married after a threemonth engagement and began a life together. Their union was truly a match made in heaven.

Jim was a dedicated Christian. He loved the Lord, which was displayed through his character, conversation and conduct.

He attended church at First Baptist Atlanta in Atlanta, Georgia, and was an avid listener of his pastor, Dr. Charles F. Stanley. Jim was baptized on Easter Sunday at age 91 at First Baptist of Atlanta.

As a youth, Jim became an Eagle Scout, the highest rank attainable within the Boy Scouts of America program. As an adult, he enjoyed golfing, fishing and quail hunting.

Jim was a wonderful man, husband, father and grandfather. He will be truly missed by his family and all who knew him.
